We did this last year and found it incredibly moving, both for those of us administering ashes and for many who received them. We are located somewhere near the buckle of the Bible Belt where liturgical churches are not unheard of, but are relatively mysterious to the general public. Most of what happened last year was just conversation, with lots of people not actually wanting to receive ashes, but still happy to engage in discussion…at least when they got over their suspicions of us. 🙂

We did this last year and had really good experiences, sharing God’s call to all to consider their lives, in the midst of their daily activities. We strive to be out in the community to be a witness and a presence, offering ashes and prayer wherever we go.
