Last year congregations, ecumenical groups, and other Christian organizations across the United States and beyond took to the street corners, transit stops, shopping centers and campuses to offer ashes and prayer to God’s people where they live and work.

There will be an “Ashes in the Park” service in Linn Park at Noon. The service will last approximately 25 minutes and will be followed by lunch provided by Community Kitchens.
Episcopal clergy will also be in the north Pavilion of UAB hospital to distribute ashes from approximately 1:00-3:00pm.

Most of what happened last year was just conversation, with lots of people not actually wanting to receive ashes, but still happy to engage in discussion…at least when they got over their suspicions of us. :)
